Kordon Rid-Ich + Disease Treatment - 1 Gallon
Kordon Rid-Ich + Disease Treatment - 1 Gallon ('048054376610)

Kordon Rid-Ich Plus is a completely safe, effective and economical Ich treatment in fresh and saltwater on a wide range of protozoan, crustaceans, and other invertebrate parasites of fish.

  • Controls Ich and other external protozoan, dinoflagellate and fungal diseases of fish
  • Powerful 2-medication combination
  • Suitable for fresh and saltwater

Kordons Rid Ich+ is a combination of two powerful medications which have proven effective in the control of many diseases of freshwater fishes caused by external protozoan (single cell) parasites such as white spot disease, Ichthyophthiriasis, Costia, Trichodina, Chilodonella and saltwater external parasites such as Cryptocaryon and Amyloodinium. The medication can also treat fungal infections in fishes.

Rid Ich+ is recommended as the best chemical treatment for Ich, (white spot disease), having been originally developed decades ago for professional aquaculture, public aquariums, and government use in treating fishes. Other than refinement in ingredients, it has continued to remain as the foremost scientifically developed chemical treatment for Ich white spot disease. Efficacy is improved and the treatment time is often reduced when compared to treatment with either the chemicals malachite or formalin alone. Additionally, the Rid Ich+ formula utilizes the less common but also less toxic chloride salt of malachite green (this is the same salt used in Kordons Malachite Green).

The recommended treatment concentration of Rid Ich+ should be approached with caution, carefully observing the reactions of the treated fishes and ceasing treatment if any undue stress is noted. Remember, when the first outward signs of Ich (scattered spots) are noticed, the fish is often quite heavily parasitic in the mouth and gills - lowering the fishs ability to withstand additional stress. The weaker the fishes' condition, the poorer its response will be to any medication. Rid Ich+ has been shown to be reasonably safe for use on fishes which normally cannot tolerate malachite green alone.

Seachem PolyGuard Treat Bacterial, Fungal, and Parasitic Diseases for Freshwater Aquariums - 3.5 oz
Seachem PolyGuard Treat Bacterial, Fungal, and Parasitic Diseases for Freshwater Aquariums - 3.5 oz ('116076500)

Seachem PolyGuard is the single most effective medication to keep freshwater fish free of disease! It is an effective treatment and safeguards against all prevalent bacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases of exotic fish. For use in freshwater or marine aquaria. Be aware that many diseases and infections share similar physical and behavioral symptoms, e.g. clamped fins, lesions, and loss of appetite.

  • PolyGuard treats bacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases
  • Very broad spectrum freshwater medication
  • Good choice when unsure of the disease

When our pets are sick, we immediately want to reach for the most powerful medication on the shelf. However, sometimes the right choice to prevent stress is to opt for a gentler medication at first, especially with less severe infections. PolyGuard is among Seachems strongest medications and is best used when you are unsure what disease you are treating or when the fish is suffering from multiple infections.

Active ingredients: sulfathiazole (36%), malachite green (1.9%), nitrofurantoin (0.14%), nitrofural (0.14%), quinacrine dihydrochloride (0.27%). Inactive ingredients: excipients (61%)

Before Treating
Remove all invertebrates - these are extremely sensitive to medication. Turn off UV filters, and ozone filters, and remove chemical filtration like MatrixCarbon and Purigen. Ensure that your tank is fully cycled and stable; poor water quality is the root cause of most fish diseases, and adding medication will do no good if the water chemistry is still bad.

Dosing:
Use 1 measure (included) per every 40 L (10 US gallons) of water. Repeat this dose every 72 hours for a maximum of 2 weeks. Repeat every 3 days for up to 2 weeks or until symptoms disappear. Use whenever introducing new fish.

After Treating
When the treatment period is over, PolyGuard can easily be removed using activated filter carbon like MatrixCarbon. It does not linger in the substrate or filter media of the tank.
